Dear Accountability,
You are truly hard to come by. So many tragedies and injustices come by and no one takes accountability for them. But every once and awhile, the horrible things that happen in society and our world which finally wakes us up to the horrible things that have been happening the whole time.
What were the injustices that we are now finally starting the recognize in our country?
Racism, Bigotry, Housing Discrimination, Police Violence… the list never ends.

Being accountable means studying the history behind why injustices thrive. Being accountable means shedding away white fragility and embracing empathy for the pain of fellow human beings of a different skin tone.
I look to history as a way to understand and pinpoint who/what is culpable for this world that we live in. A world that is controlled by notions of white supremacy. A world where the countries of my parents’ birth struggle to thrive under the will of Western nations.
It is tiring to never see anyone take accountability. But as we have seen during this last election, it is never too late to make a change and hold accountability for how unjust our nation, and our world can be. It is important that we never forget, so that it will not happen again.
Sincerely,
A Tired Person of Color
